For many years the Penobscot Nation has allowed us to ride on their lands and asked for nothing in return. In the past, they have generously granted written permission to CRNEMBA on an annual basis but we have not yet received such permission this year. As with so many civic processes, the pandemic delayed our 2020 request and may hinder their ability to respond quickly. As many of you know, or have heard, “No Trespassing without written permission” signs have been posted on several Penobscot Nation roads in Carrabassett Valley. At this point, we are not aware of any official communication and really do not know the scope of the intent of these signs. Nonetheless, the CRNEMBA riding community places a high value on gratitude and respect; we recognize how lucky we are to be allowed to ride on Penobscot lands. Until we confirm that we have permission for 2020, please be respectful of any signs you may encounter. We’ll do our best to keep you posted. In the meantime, we wish everyone a safe and fun summer riding season.
